Many users reported that they are not able to install Windows 10 on their Mac. They get Error Code 0x0000098 When they try to do a partition with BootCamp to their MacBook Pro with a Windows 10 ISO file on their USB.
After various errors and fixes appeared while installing Windows 10, they get Error Code 0x0000098. Mostly Error message appears at the end of the installation process.
Here is the solution to Fix Error Code 0x0000098
#1. Check the right .ios file you are using
If you are using old Macbooks use “Win10_1607_English_x64.iso“. Don’t install any other file on the system. If you check Microsoft site you will not able to install this .iso file as its no longer available, You need to contact customer support.
#2. Boot from Macintosh HD disk
Reboot holding alt to see if you get a list of disks to boot from, if ‘Macintosh HD’ or a similar (Mac boot disk) appears select that & continue to see if it boots.
#3. Force Restart your Mac
Force restarting your Mac will fix the problem with updating macOS to high Sierra.
Just press down the power button on the right top corner of the keyboard on your Mac or iMac. Just start your Mac again to fix the problem.
#4. Reboot your Mac into safe mode
Rebooting your Mac to safe mode will surely fix the problem “An Error occurred while verifying firmware”.
- To do so Re-booted your Macbook pro into safe mode, hold down the shift key on startup.
- Then Re-start upgrade from applications folder and it will install.
- It may take a long time to install with a couple of reboots but get there in the end.
